Spring Sets In

I don't know about most of you, but it seems to me that after the holidays are over and the trees begin to bud, the creatures are more active... and I don't mean just the outdoor ones!

I became so ansy and so ready to finish up school and enjoy the weather. It doesn't help that these are the nicest days of the year and just around the corner are temps that are inhumane!! I want to be outside with the kids and exploring our world.

When they were younger, I could get away with more easily. If we didn't get to read the read aloud that day, there was always that night or the next day.

However, now, I have the older children whose studies ARE more demanding and require more "formal" school time. Also, the evenings are usually filled with their activities and church classes for confirmation. As well, I am seeing students after school-time until the evening.

The seasons have certainly changed around here. I love it all. But I miss the old days too.

I really, really love the Charlotte Mason approach to education. My children have flourished over the years by using living books, narrations, Shakespeare, Music and Art study, and so much more. We love Nature study and we still try to get some in from time to time. All so very informal, but I see the benefits everywhere.

There are so many wonderful resources to draw upon. Mater Amabilis, Ambleside, 4Reallearning, and more. I also love using some suggestions from The Latin-Centered Curriculum
